ELECTRIC GATES & VEHICLE SECURITY POSTS

Electric gates can add a high level of security to your property by allowing you full control over who goes in and out, and preventing unwanted and nuisance access to your property. When used together with an intercom system, you’ll have a great looking gate that also secures your home and deters any would-be intruders.
There are three main types of electric gate openers suitable for domestic use; sliding gate openers, articulated gate arms, and swing gate arms. All electric gates can be controlled by remote fob or keypad entry, and Firsteye can fabricate gates in many different single and double leaf designs made to measure specifically for your property. All types of gate openers are rated for the maximum weight and gate size they will open, so we are careful to ensure we choose the right ones for your gate.
Sliding Gate Openers

Sliding gate openers have the advantage of being the most wind resistant and also the most secure of the three types as they are almost impossible to force open. Sliding gates can be programmed to open fully for vehicle access, or partially for pedestrian access. They require a full gate width alongside the gate opening to allow the gate room to slide fully open, so may not be suited to narrow driveways and entrances. Sliding gates may run along a track in the ground or be free hanging.
Articulated Gate Openers

Articulated gate openers work best when there are large gate posts available to fix them to. They are a good choice for wooden gates as all the pressure required to open the gate is taken by the gate post and not by the gate, so helps avoid bending wooden gates. They can be fitted with a new gate or to convert an existing gate to electric opening.
Swing Gate Openers

There are two main types of swing gate openers, underground systems and gate back arms.
Underground openers are discrete as there is no unsightly mechanism attached to the gate, and are highly effective. They do however need to be fitted at the same time as the gate is installed, so are best for homeowners planning to fit a gate as part of a new build, property renovation or refit project.
Swing gate openers using hydraulic or corkscrew arms are the most popular types of swing gate openers as they can be fitted to convert an existing gate, or at the same time as a new gate. Corkscrew arms are the most cost effective option if you have a light or medium weight gate. For a heavy weight gate, the power of hydraulic arms will be needed.
Vehicle Security Posts

If you have a driveway or parking space at your house that can’t be protected by a gate, you may want to consider a key lock operated security post. Theft of desirable cars is on the increase, with thieves commonly breaking into a property and stealing the car keys to take the car. Giving your vehicle the additional protection of a security post can be enough to make thieves move on to an easier target. The few moments it takes to lock a security post in place are well worth it to avoid the distress and disruption of having your car stolen.
